It's almost like, what didn't happen yesterday... here goes!
Joseph Becker hung out with Dennis Krausse and his 3 buddies. He got into a discussion about Calvinism, met another young guy in recovery, and a fellow personal trainer. Then he spent the day at Calvary St. Pete, meeting people, volunteering in the bookstore and hanging out. I went to go pick him up around 3pm, and before we got to leave, Art Dykstra came up and invited him to go play road hockey against some Florida boys. He didn't hesitate!
Vikki started the day down in St. Pete, she was hoping to attend a group that was just getting started called "I'm stuck, but I want to be free!" led by Debbie Friley. I told her it was at the church, but in fact it was at Debbie's house. She eventually got there, and had a great time. She told me that it's the same thing that Jon does, only for ladies. She loved it. I think she's planning on going back for the full day seminar on Saturday. I'm hoping that we can bring Debbie up for a Ladies Conference later this year.
Joel is MIA, his host Jim Bourland was trying to track him down in the middle of the day. He played hookey at CC St. Pete last night, told me later that he was invited to CC Palm Harbor. I hope he's enjoying himself.
Gen's birthday was yesterday! It was nice to be in Florida. I did get her a card and a small gift that was ready when she got up, and I let her sleep in yesterday morning. Danny led a bunch of people in "Happy Birthday" at then end of the service last night. That's pretty cool. We're hoping to go celebrate on Saturday night, just me and her. She's headed to the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa tomorrow as a birthday gift with her mom and some friends.
I'm breathing today. I was so distracted yesterday, just focusing on finishing the study for CC St. Pete last night. About 1:30, it came together, and I spent a couple of hours finalizing it in the afternoon. I was nervous, but God helped me. My friend Danny Heaton came early, found me and sat next to me during worship. That was a real gift from God. You can hear the message here. I want to say a genuine and heartfelt thanks to all of you that were praying for me. I spoke to a group of 40 last Friday and shook like a man with Parkinsons. I was still last night, thanks for your prayers.
I met a couple from Ottawa last night. I also met a man who was walking by the church on Tuesday and decided to come back last night for the service. He had a son who is struggling with a recent diagnosis of mental illness, met Ray Desmarais and then heard my story. God really met him last night.
I'm hoping to see my new nephew Landon, only a week old today. We might go to Clearwater Beach today. Gen is at a music practice tonight, and I'm hoping to take the kids up to my parents for supper.
