Oh, you have to hear this one! Gerrit and I had a great time recording it, and I think you'll really enjoy hearing a couple of his stories. It's a real privilege to be around Gerrit, he's such an encouragement. And pretty good at basketball too!

It's good news and sad news. We're making an adjustment to my schedule starting today. For the last couple of years, I've been doing a discipleship group at Jericho Road on Wednesday mornings from 10 till 11:30. Well, it started out on Thursday mornings at a house on Playfair, then moved to Mondays at Springhurst, and has been Wednesdays at 5th Avenue for the last couple of months.
It's been a great group. I've gotten to know a bunch of guys, watch them grow in their faith and go on with the Lord, to jobs, wives and other places to live. Some of course have done great, others we're still praying for!
What did we do in the group? It had 2 components. One was a daily devotional, which was the same as my own. I showed them how I do devotions, and then challenged them to do it the same way for 3 months. Each week, we would go around the room and share what the Lord had been saying to us in devotions. Some of those mornings will be with me forever. God is faithful to lead, guide and teach us. The other component was a specific Bible Study. We've done books of the Bible, character traits, characters, and we ended up working through an Inductive Bible Study course. All of that was done by each guy, sometimes they were group studies, but most of them were individual studies, then a report. Awesome stuff.
What will happen to the group? Well, this is the good news. Jon Ruby has been with the group from the beginning and has been paying careful attention to how it's been led. I'm happy to turn it over to him, and I think he's going to be better at it than I was. Praise the Lord for guys like Jon!
So, would you take a minute and pray for Jon? His marriage, family, work, relationship with God, and his ministry? It would be good to pray for the guys, transitions are sometimes pretty difficult. Also, please pray for me, that I would make wise decisions with my schedule, and be exactly where the Holy Spirit wants me to be.
We're moving forward with this. Our target date for our first Sunday at the Y is April 27th. We're actually double booked that Sunday in both the Y and the Bronson Centre. We thought it would be wise to do it that way, in case we had a glitch and needed to stay another week at the Bronson Centre.
There's some excitement in the air.
There are a couple of more things that need to come into place. I'm hoping to sign the paper with the Y this week. We're all set with the Bronson Centre. And then there's this matter of coordinating all the logistical stuff... any volunteers? Can you fog a mirror? We can use you!
I just finished reading it. It's pretty cool to read a book about people that you've known for a while. It's weird, but in a cool way. I'm serious, I know some of these people! And it makes the book all that much better, because I've seen some of them grow in their faith, and truly, they have a story to tell. God has done some miraculous things in their lives!
So, it's a collection of stories that was put together by the Mary Fairchild who was on staff at Calvary Chapel St. Pete. She was Danny's assistant for years. She was aided by Wendy Hodges who is Danny's wife. All of these stories are from people that attended Calvary Chapel St. Pete. There were a couple of them that I didn't know.
The book is self-published, but well worth your time and attention. These are real people, real lives, impacted by a real God at a real cross and a real Savior. I was so encouraged reading it, I know you will to. You can get one here and here.
I'm taking this idea from checking out Ken Sutton's blog last week. I liked it...
This morning was awesome in a bunch of ways.
First, I'm flying solo this weekend with my 3 kids. Gen's still in Montreal, singing at a French church this morning. We weren't going to get there early, because that's just asking for a journey through the dark caverns of the Bronson Centre, trying to find Olivia. So, we didn't get there until about 10 till 10. It's a blessing to walk in, see everything setup, chairs, coffee, sound system, people talking and fellowshipping and communion setup. My kids tore off to their class at the Grey Court with Monica... What a blessing.
Worship was awesome! It was Stephane's first time for leading/playing on Sunday morning and he knocked a home run. You could tell he was prepared. I loved the Scripture reading and prayer at the beginning of the set, songs were great. Sound was loud! What a blessing.
I preached my heart out. A little different from teaching, but the passage called for a response. I pray that you will "not recieve the grace of God in vain."
It's a blessing seeing the prayer groups, lots of visitors again this morning, some of them familiar faces. It's such a joy to be a part of this church, seeing what the Lord is doing, and sitting next to people whose lives have been radically transformed by Jesus Christ.
I'm just thinking through the faces and the stories behind the faces. I'm encouraged! What's God going to do next? Have a great week!
I just got the materials in the mail the other day. I love attending this conference, because it's smaller than the other ones, much more intimate, and the fellowship and teaching is so much more closer to home and effective for me.
The dates are Monday, April 20th to Wednesday the 22nd, 2009. It's held at Stillwood Camp and Conference Centre just outside Abbotsford, BC. The conference centre is breathtakingly gorgeous, a place I can't do justice to in describing. The food was like heaven, and the bunks and beds and hospitality was a huge blessing.
The speakers this year are: Ray Bentley, Pete Nelson and Rob Verdeyen. All guys that I would love to hear from and love to sit and talk with. And you can do that at this conference, because it's that kind of conference. Here's the brochure: http://www.ccsunshinecoast.com/Documents/CDNBrochure2009.zip
The cost is negligable for us, compared to the cost to get out there!
Wanna go? I'll go if you go!
I hope I never get used to this. It thrills me every time.
I wish I could tell you the names and the details, but it's their story to tell. God is doing ssomething miraculous in our midst. It's truly glorious and exciting to see it up close.
At the beginning of the year, I felt that the Lord gave me a verse in John: I have sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work and you have reaped the benefit. I'm seeing it. I feel priviledged and very grateful. Praise the Lord!
Would you take a minute and pray for these guys and their families? Pray for us as we seek to disciple them. Pray that More would come to Christ here as well. God may not be done.
I'm excited for Gen. She's heading to Montreal this weekend, the 20th through the 22nd. On Friday, she's going to hook-up with her friend Emma and do some songwriting together. That night, she's going to sing a special song at the Youth Meeting at Eglise de Rive-Nord. Saturday, all day she's leading worship for Femmes de' Qualite', and she's got a couple of possibilities for leading worship at a church on Sunday morning.
This is a big deal for her, because she set the whole thing up, and it's a big deal for me, because I'm flying solo with the kids for 3 days. May God be merciful and gracious to us!
This is all great stuff in anticipation of her own, full length cd, that we are hoping to see released later this year. She's has to get in the studio first... more details on that later.
So, obviously... pray for us!
I hope these guys aren't one hit wonders...
When I was hanging with Pastor Viv Laird of CC St. Pete last week, I was reminded of his statement to me years ago, about missionaries and church leadership. He told me: "The best guys always leave!"
So, it's been a week. Last Sunday we said good-bye to Joseph Becker, Jonny Woodcock, Randy Gardiner and my own brother - Jesse Falleur. All of them except Joseph have signed up for the 3 month Discipleship Course offered by Northgate Ministries in Perth, ON. Joseph is going back to serve at Northgate for 6 months. It's the vision of my good friend Dan Schilke and he's ably assisted by Paul Gosse. I don't know how many of these they have done in the last couple of years, but I love what they do with guys and gals. They come back more mature, more grounded, more in love with Jesus, and usually with a vision for their next step.
So, let's take a minute and pray for these guys! They all had to turn off their cell phones! I don't know what access to their email they will have! They, I think have been split up into 2 different homes. Jesse and Joseph with the Schilke's, and Randy and Jonny with the Gosse's. That will be a sweet time of fellowship and orientation. Then they are supposed to move into a 3 bedroom apartment in Perth for the remainder of their time. Let's pray that they will recieve all that God wants for them while they are there, they would learn, be flexible and have the courage to step out and try new things. Let's also pray that God would give Dan and Paul supernatural wisdom and insight to really serve these guys in an effective way... Praise the Lord for men that are willing to "Seek first the Kingdom of God"... Awesome!
