Last night was a BIG night for Gen Falleur.
First, I got to drop in last night at the annual Jericho Road Christian Ministries Fundraising Auction. Gen had donated a private, in home concert with posters and 5 CD's of each album. The value of the donation was around 4-500$. It was the last item in the live auction. At that point in the night I was sitting next to Lynne Fraser and her friend Deborah and on the other side of me was Bill Stevens from CHRI. Lynne and her friend couldn't recall hearing Gen's song on the radio, and then they played a clip of "Whosoever Will" her current single. Both ladies caught their breath, and exclaimed. "I know that song, I love it! I love her voice! That's your wife?" That was pretty cool. Then the bidding started at 250. Ray, Paul and Ashley's friend (John) started at it. And it went pretty quickly into the 400 range. Then there was a pause and then boom it was up at 600. Another pause, as there was some regrouping. The tension in the room was awesome, everyone was listening and watching. Ashley ended up with the bid card and the bidding stopped at $775.00 I was happy for Gen and I was happy for Jericho Road. An awesome night!
Meanwhile, in Calgary, the GMA Canada awards banquet was going on. Gen was nominated in 3 categories:
Folk Album of the Year for "Whosoever Will"
Francophone Song of the Year for "Que Tout Ce Qui Respire"
Francophone Album of the Year for "Des Le Reveil"
We didn't see the news until this morning (Saturday), Gen won a Covenant Award in both Francophone categories. We were elated! Francophone Song of the Year and Francophone Album of the Year. I'm so proud of her! I'm also very grateful to Sebastian Demrey for all the hard work and creativity that he poured into her album.
Gen had a BIG night!
The weekend isn't over though. She's leading worship and communion tonight at Calvary Ottawa. Tomorrow, she's singing a special song at the Met for their first French service at 11am. And, Monday night, she's singing a couple of special songs at Centre Reveil here in Orleans for their Annual Holy Spirit Conference with Paul Goulet.
And then she's hanging up her guitar until spring. We're having a baby in December. She's going out on a HIGH NOTE!
You can send her a note of congratulations here, here or genfalleur(at)gmail.com
I'm honored to know you guys!
