Rock the River Ottawa 2012

Hey there...

This is really cool. I've been hoping, praying and talking about this kind of thing for a few years now, and I'm really excited to see it coming to Ottawa. 

Rock the River is a BIG outreach that the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association has been doing for a few years now across North America. They bring in a lot of Christian Artists and Franklin Graham preaches the gospel. 

Here's a promo video that they did in advance of Winnipeg last summer. 

Rock the River is planned for Ottawa September 29, 30th in Lebreton Flats, right downtown. Saturday has a youth focus, and Sunday is for everyone. There are a several meetings scheduled in advance of this for prayer, training and organization. The first one is January 25th. 

Let's pray for an overwhelming response to this, not only from the churches and Christians in prayer, volunteering, training and inviting, but let's also pray for the nets to break. I'd love to see this city get rocked with the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ...

Jericho Road Christian Ministries

Jericho Road Christian Ministries Annual Fundraiser is Oct. 21st at 6pm at the Hampton Inn Conference Centre (I know, same place and date as the Civic Breakfast... wow!)

We love the people over at Jericho Road, grateful to see what God has done through their ministry and want to see it continue. Gen and I over the years have been involved, volunteering, and serving alongside a lot of their people. 

Their fundraising auction is a lot of fun. The testimonies and fellowship are wonderful. Here's some more info about it coming up this year.

Big Weekend

This is going to be a big weekend at Calvary.

First, if you haven't signed up for the weekly email, you should do that... here.

Also, there's a twitter feed that you can get, by sending a text message from your cell phone with these words "follow @cfottawa" (without the quotation marks) to this 5 digit phone number 21212 in Canada, 40404 in the US. It's a free service, the only charges that you will have is whatever your cell phone carrier charges for receiving text messages. There's more info here and here. 

AND, this Sunday, May 1st is our first service in Orleans. We will start at 10:30, in the gym of Eglise Baptiste Evangelique du Bon Berger at 3775 St. Joseph Blvd. in Orleans, near the corner of Trim Rd. Bus #122 from Place D' Orleans goes right by there. There will be children's ministry and we are planning a potluck BBQ after the service. There's a flyer here.

AND, Saturday night we will share in communion at the close of the service. But, after we dismiss everyone, many of us, and I would hope the majority of us are going to stick around for about an hour and just continue in worship and prayer. We call it an afterglow for lack of a better term.
